GST billing for restaurants
GST billing software for restaurants, bars and cafés
Restaurant GST is easy to get wrong: food, beverages and liquor can carry different taxes, some menus are priced tax-inclusive, and month-end totals have to match what you file.
NextGenDash applies the right tax to every line of every bill and keeps a running GST summary, so filing becomes a matter of reading off the numbers rather than rebuilding them from paper bills.
Tax class per menu item
Set a tax class on each item once, and every bill applies it. Change a rate in one place and new bills pick it up.
CGST and SGST split
Each bill shows the CGST and SGST amounts separately, as your customers and accountant expect.
Liquor VAT alongside GST
Bars and restaurants serving liquor can put drinks on a state VAT class while food stays on GST, on the same bill.
Tax-inclusive or exclusive
Price your menu with tax included or added at billing, whichever your outlet uses.
GST details on the bill
Your GSTIN, business name and address print on every bill layout you design.
GSTR-ready summary
A GST page totals taxable value and tax by rate for the period, ready for your return or your accountant.
How GST works on restaurant bills
Most standalone restaurants charge GST on food and non-alcoholic beverages, split equally into CGST and SGST. Alcohol is outside GST and is taxed by the state instead, usually as VAT. A single bill in a restaurant-bar can therefore carry both.
NextGenDash handles this with tax classes: food items use a GST class, liquor uses a VAT class, and the bill totals each correctly. Rates differ by business type and state, so confirm yours with your accountant and set them once in GST settings.
From bills to your GST return
Because every bill is recorded with its tax breakdown, the GST summary for any date range is always up to date. Export it or share it with your accountant instead of adding up paper copies at month end.
Get started in three steps
- 1Enter your GSTIN and choose tax-inclusive or exclusive pricing.
- 2Assign a tax class to each menu item, including VAT for liquor.
- 3Bill as normal and open the GST summary whenever you need it.
Frequently asked questions

It depends on the type of establishment and its turnover, and rates change from time to time. Confirm the current rate for your business with your accountant, then set it once as a tax class in NextGenDash.
Can one bill have GST and liquor VAT?
Yes. Food items use a GST tax class and liquor uses a VAT class, and the bill shows each tax separately.
Does the software file my GST return?
No. It keeps an accurate GST summary by rate for any period, which you or your accountant use to file.
Can I print my GSTIN on the bill?
Yes. Your GSTIN, business name and address appear on every bill layout.
